Deidara: DON'T CALL ME THAT!! First of all, I do not intend on offending yaoi fans. You can like yaoi all you want. I'm just tired of hearing yaoi fangirls telling me that yaoi is canon, when it's not canon 98% of the time in shonen manga (like Naruto). I'm using Deidara as the example because there is ACTUAL evidence in the manga that indicates he's STRAIGHT. Teh Proofs (please read before flaming me): I'm sure everyone remembers when Deidara said "Pop is dead. My style is Superflat." Deidara is actually refering to two art movements. The Pop Art Movement is pro-consumerism and celebrates modern society. The Superflat Art Movement (which is currently only in Japan), on the other hand, opposes Pop art. Superflat is a postmodern art movement, founded by the artist Takashi Murakami, which is influenced by manga and anime. The term is used by Murakami to refer to various flattened forms in Japanese graphic art, animation, pop culture and fine arts, as well as the shallow emptiness of Japanese consumer culture. It focuses on being critical to the modernization, Westernization, and commercialization of Japan since WWII. It is also critical of the sexual fetishism (which INCLUDES homosexuality, lolicon, shotacon, and otaku sexuality) of postwar Japan. Why would Deidara be critical of homosexuality and be gay at the same time? Superflat artists also targets the anime industry and fandom (for similar reasons). Again, please do not take offense to this. You can continue enjoying yaoi, just please don't tell me that SasoDei, TobiDei, PeinDei, etc. is canon. Are you so shure that Kishimoto used that
sentence with that meaning?
I don't think that Deidara "was" *sobb* gay.
But I also don't think that Kishimoto wanted to use the sentence with that meaning. Why Deidara? Why doesn't he made a sentence for all akatsuki? It's obvious that they can't be all gay.

- ok that was a joke. But I'm serious. I don't think he used the sentence on porpose to say that Deidara isn't gay.
Untill now he never brought smth. about the naruto characters sexuality up (only crushes and love? e.g. Naru->Saku, Hina->Naru)
and I also don't think that he will do this soon.
